1. The Position

Join the team of Directors at Discover Bridge of Allan - Voluntary Position

2. Introduction

This role empowers and promotes Bridge of Allan as a socially, environmentally, and economically responsible community. By placing people at the centre of decision-making processes, we aim to improve our town’s amenities, support community development, and enhance local sustainability. We support and provide opportunities to develop the assets of Bridge of Allan, creating a modern, dynamic place to live, work, study, invest, and visit. 

3. The Role

As a Director, your role can include:
- Implementing the wishes of the community on various issues.
- Delivering agreed initiatives.
- Managing projects.
- Marketing and promoting Bridge of Allan.
- Raising funds.
- Communicating with residents and stakeholders.

4. Key Responsibilities

Upholding Our Values:

- Transparent and Accountable Leadership: Lead with transparency and accountability through robust governance and effective communication with our Steering Group, partners, membership, and the Bridge of Allan community.
- Collaboration and Consultation: Collaborate with the community, partners, stakeholders, and interest groups, establishing consultation frameworks that consider diverse perspectives. Seek opportunities for joint work in areas of common interest.
- Inclusion and Diversity: Ensure inclusivity in decision-making and communication, engaging views and representation across all sectors of our community.
- Sustainability: Focus on development with consideration of immediate and long-term impacts on community and environmental sustainability. Make decisions with a focus on purpose, people, planet, and profit outcomes to protect Bridge of Allan’s identity.
- Respect: Promote a supportive and accommodating approach, building confidence, respect, and dignity in relationships with volunteers, the community, and professional bodies.
- Innovation: Adopt innovative and creative approaches to address local issues.
- Adaptability: Be flexible in responding to changing circumstances and opportunities, adapting to achieve our vision.

5. Time Commitment

This role involves attending one board meeting each month (approximately 2 hours). Additionally, there will be 5-10 hours per month dedicated to delivering agreed actions. A minimum commitment of 2 years is expected.

6. Location

The role involves attending board meetings in person, remote working, and some fieldwork within the village.

7. You will be able to demonstrate

- Ability to work effectively in a team/committee is essential.
- A passion for Bridge of Allan and its people and culture.
- Residency in the village is desirable but not essential.
- A strong desire to contribute to the development of Bridge of Allan.
