Situated on the outskirts of the ancient town of Forres, Benromach Distillery has had a chequered history, changing hands several times and also laying silent. The last time this elusive malt was bottled as a single malt appears to have been during the 1900’s.
Gordon & MacPhail purchased Benromach in 1993 and history was made in June 1996 when they announced the revival of Benromach Single Malt Scotch Whisky, one of Speyside’s best-kept secrets.
Work began in 1997 to re-equip the distillery with production equipment. This included two new stills, a new mash tun and wash backs which had been re-worked from the originals. The first spirit ran off the stills in the Autumn of Benromach’s Centenary Year, 1998.
At 8pm on September 30 we’ll be joined in our Bridge of Allan by Alastair Milligan of Gordon & Macphail who will share a selection of the Benromach range as well as a couple of treasured single cask bottlings from their cellars.
The ticket price includes a dram of each of the below:
Benromach Organic
Benromach 10YO
Benromach 15YO
Distillery Label Ardmore 1999
CC Glendullan 2009 Cote Rotie
